Right now,
if I can wake up
and water the garden;
Go for a walk, the sun on my skin;
Say no thanks to the offer of climbing,
instead lying down with The Invention of Nature
before falling asleep on the rug
with a soft blanket,
until the afternoon sun slants through the window;
then wake up
and plant a couple of trees,
as the winter evening chill begins to bite
and the sun dims behind the pines;
then have a shower
and start thinking about dinner and bed:
it’s a pretty good day.
I wrote yesterday about how things have been a bit uncomfortable lately. I might write more about that tomorrow. There have been some funny moments, and some kinda cool ones, which I’d like to share here. For now though, I want to enjoy this simple day of easy pleasures, feeling warm and soft and quiet.
Time to make some banana pancakes. With maple syrup. Because (as if you need a reason) it’s Canada day!
Oh, Canada! Glory me, what a wondrous place. How nice it is to think of you.
